A Big Piece of Who I Am
by Lindsey Cole
Inceed has been a major piece of my adult life. Inceed has been with me through many life events – getting married back in 2015 (we had almost the whole OKC office there to celebrate), helped us purchase 2 homes (thanks to my co-workers for all of the donated boxes), supported us as we have grown our family by not only throwing a surprise baby shower for me, but also attended my close friend baby shower! And the most recent, helped Jake get a contract with one of our clients. I’m already starting to smother Porter with the Inceed apparel and gear we have….can we start making kid shirts?! ? but for real..?

A September to Remember
by Kelsey McNew
On September 5th my best friend and the love of my life asked me to marry him, on September 18th with the help of every person in the Denver office and especially my amazing team Nikki and Tay, I hit contest, and on September 25th I closed on my first house. I woke up to this yard sign after spending the first night in my new house and it was THE BEST. It was definitely a September to remember! ❤

Disobey Isn’t In My Vocabulary
by Kelsey McNew
This is one of my favorite childhood photos/stories. We went to the zoo earlier that day and everyone was very tired once we got home. My mom was yelling at my sister and I to get in the bathtub, and me being the type who hates to disobey, I immediately got in the tub with a ll my clothes on, High Tops and all! My mom came back downstairs and I looked at her like “I’m just doing what you told me to do” and she couldn’t help but laugh.

Goat Roper
by Preston Morse
It may look like 1950’s Mayberry, but this is Kansas in the 80’s. That’s me with Rosalie the goat and my older brother, in what I can only imagine was some cruel hazing ritual. My dad brought these goats home to the farm and my mom absolutely despised them. They tore up her garden and constantly climbed on the roof of her car. Needless to say, they were around just long enough to make history in this Norman Rockwell-esque nightmare.

31 Years
by Lauren Leonard
Teammates from the age of 3 to now at the age of 34! Courtney Johnson and I have known each other for 31 YEARS! Courtney and I met in daycare, went to school together from Pre-K through high school, and played competitive softball together for years. Don’t let those sweet, innocent faces fool you. It may come as a shock that we were mischievous trouble-makers even at the age of 5. I have to say that Courtney was always the ring-leader but I was a willing accomplice in several schemes at Lakeview which include: intentionally flooding the girls bathroom, drawing “art” on the gym walls with permanent marker, terrorizing the boys in our class. I think our parents got called by the principal more than they’d like to admit. This photo is from our Kindergarten graduation at Lakeview; I’m sure the school administration threw a party that day. Good thing we got it all out of our system early. ?

Personal Best
by Josh Viar
This picture is a memory of my “personal best” up to that point. This was within the first few years of living in a new state (CO), new house, new school and new life, really. There was a pond about a mile behind our house in the middle of a bunch of ag fields to catch to runoff from irrigation. Those are my first fishing memories. First real “outdoors” memories. These are the things, to me, that laid foundations of worth, gratitude, respect, honesty, integrity. When I look at this picture I see the real Josh. The Josh before the struggles of life that we all go through. Some people may say that those struggles play a role in making us who we are. That may be true, but the laughs, talks, lessons, teaching moments and mistakes made on a small pond in the middle of nowhere are what keeps us, us.

Triple Crown
by Martin Maritz
The year was 1990…. It was so long ago that I think pictures were only taken on black and white…lol. I also think most folks in our Tulsa office were either still in diapers or not even born yet…?
Looking back it was a very important year in my golfing life. I was 13 and hitting my stride. I was down to a scratch handicap and pretty much obsessed with the game. I was a member of the Pretoria Country Club and also Magalies Park Golf Club and it wasn’t customary for them to let kids play in their men’s club championship but in 1990 they gave me an opportunity since I already played on their men’s league team that year.
So what happened next was just amazing for me at the time…. First week I won the Men’s club Championship at Pretoria Country Club… Since I was 13 I could not go into the bar area for the prizegiving function. They had to call my name, I had to run in, get my trophy, make my quick speech and run out… The following week I played in the Junior club championship, won that also and the third week I finished the triple crown at Magalies Park for their Men’s Club Championship.
Magical times back then and that made me realize I could have a future in the sport beating some really good players at the age of 13! This picture made it into our city’s news paper the Pretoria News!

Bravo, Mara!
by Blythe Westfall
Nothing like a second job to keep you busy (& happy)!! Outside of working at Inceed, my life stays plenty busy but especially in the summer, my absolute favorite thing is teaching swim lessons to kids. My mom’s had a swim school for nearly 40 years and I was a swimmer growing up so it’s been a natural thing to want to teach others how to swim! It’s such a joy to teach kids the joy of being in the water, learning proper stroke technique, diving, going to get rings off the bottom and most importantly, having FUN!!! This summer with COVID, things looked different but for Mara, this was her third summer being my swim student – she stays with her grandparents for a month each summer (she’s from Houston), and we have a BLAST together. She is 5 and can swim the length of the pool doing free style, can dive to the bottom and get rings, can back float with the best of them, and do an assisted standing dive! Bravo, Mara!

Late Birthday Present
by Blythe Westfall
Long work days and humid summer nights can be both a blessing and disguise – we get more sunlight (praise!) but it’s so hot out, it’s hard to find motivation to be outside & do much of anything. Luckily for us, we got one evening of really cool weather with a summer cool breeze, just right around 7pm – all my mom wanted for a late birthday present was to ride horses around our property on some new trails we had made a few weekends before. We saddled up Mable & Gypsy and went on a 1.5 hour ride around our farm, chatting away and chasing the sunset down. If there’s one thing COVID has been great for, it’s the extra TIME I’ve gotten with family with no rush to be anywhere else ?

The Great Wild North
by Nathan Quarles
My first week-long trip of the year took me back to the great wild North. We canoed and portaged 50 miles along the old Voyageur’s Highway, the primary route used 300 years ago to connect Montreal with the Canadian Northwest during the fur trade. It was like stepping back in time. The wilderness remains much the same as it was then, even the names of the lakes and rivers can be identified in early explorers’ journals. The boreal forest continues to be a place of solace and rejuvenation where the cares of civilized society have no hold over the silent wanderer.

Wilderness
by Nathan Quarles
Much has been lost that cannot be regained,
Forgotten to simpler times where man saw Wilderness as home rather than hinderance.
We have yet much to learn from this timeless classroom,
Ways of living not surviving, means of being not striving.
But we must be silent to hear the melody
If we are to join these rhythms of Wilderness.

Today I’m Dreaming
by Lauren Curley
Over the past few months there has been so much chatter about what we are losing with everything going on in the world. The loss of celebrations, family time, and so much more. On the bright side, with all the free time at home it gives you the chance to dream. Today I’m dreaming of people I haven’t met, places I haven’t explored and dreams that haven’t come true yet. Today, I’m dreaming of the city streets of Prague I visited a few summers ago. Dreaming of adventures hoping they are dreaming of me too.

Ingkong
by Janisa Neumeier
This is a picture of my Ingkong (that means grandfather in Tagalog). Earlier this month he tested positive for Covid-19. As a family, we rallied around him – we did grocery deliveries, medicine deliveries and check in calls daily. I was the person dedicated to doing a daily video call with him – we would go through deep breathing exercises and stretches to help with the chest tightening he was experiencing. We did this for a number of days, and the days were scary. As someone that visits my grandparents on a weekly basis, I look forward to their smiles and their warmth and unfortunately, their spirits were low. This picture however documents the turn of his sickness, it was the first time in weeks I had seen him smile, and although slight it was an upturn of his lip that gave me hope. Just a few days after we snapped this picture, his symptoms began to subside and today he is back to full health! I still video call him daily, but he doesn’t prefer the stretching so we keep that out of it. I cannot wait to see him again but that wait is well worth it.

Oh the places you will won’t go…
We are always focused on doing. Doing more, doing better, doing all the time, doing like others do, measure all that we are able to do, or what we are doing with our life.
We do not focus as much on being. Being present. Being in the moment. How are you? How do you feel? Most chances are that if you’re in a good place with your being, you’ll do great things.
This time has allowed me to slow down and focus on being. It has also allowed me to spend more quality time with these two. I’m SO thankful for that. ❤️ #purejoy

The Seuss Tree
by Taylor Clark
Dr. Seuss has had a funny way of appearing in my life. My family has always been found of his creative stories, elaborate characters and wacky illustrations. We named a tree in our back yard, that happened to grow in a funny direction, “the Seuss tree.” My parent even have an original print of The Cat and the Hat character sketch that they purchased early in their relationship. When I came to interview at Inceed, much to my surprise, there was a Dr. Seuss mural on the wall which made me feel right at home.
This picture I took is near Children’s Pool Beach in La Jolla, California. Dr. Seuss himself drew inspiration for his novels from the scenery from this very area, as well as Balboa Park and more. Walking through these different areas on many summer trips with my family you can clearly see how some of the unique plants and tree’s would fit right into his fantasy land. After all he did say “why fit in when you were born to stand out?”

One….More…..Step
by Kelli Norton
You probably can’t tell in this photo, but I was GASPING for oxygen. This photo was taken movements after we hiked two miles up a very, very, very steep mountain. I was with my friends family- who loved to hike- in Breckenridge, Colorado. When we were about to head out I was thinking to myself, “pssh im in great shape this will be no problem”……..it was a problem. My Oklahoman lungs could not get enough oxygen. I was so out of the breath, the dogs out paced me. I just kept telling myself to put on foot in front of the other so I didn’t have to hear myself wheezing. I wanted to give up and just sit down so many times, but I kept going because I want to see this ‘oh so awesome view’. Boy were they right. I learned two important things that day: 1) I will never go hiking with them again and 2) the view is always worth it.

Holding On To the Sunshine
by Kelli Norton
There’s those days that you wish you could just hold on to the sunshine a bit longer……….and this was one of those. This picture was taken in Destin, Florida on the last ‘big trip’ my friends from college and I took before we all moved to different cities. I think back to those times and I wish I could keep the sun from setting. I wish I could have a few more minutes with my lifelong friends.

Self Reflection
by Janisa Neumeier
This picture was taken at The Port Vieux Pavilion in Marseilles, France. The most beautiful thing about the image – is not the image itself but what I remember thinking as it was being taken. It was the first time I had seen my reflection since getting ready that morning and looking up into the mirror allowed me to see myself exactly where I was, standing and all. It allowed me to reflect (no pun intended) and slow down, and process the idea that I was in another country for the very first time in my life. It allowed me to appreciate the long day that was had before this image was taken; a day of riding bikes through streets of locals and being somewhat immersed in a totally different culture than my own. It allowed me to be grateful for a moment, and allowed me to appreciate the journey I had been privileged to take.

The Single Greatest Day
by Drew Norris
This is one of my favorite photos from our wedding day on March 14th, 2020. I mean it looks like a movie poster! If we would have scheduled this beautiful event a week after we did, then we would have had to postpone or even worse cancel it. We are so blessed that we got to celebrate our love together with those that we are closest to, and I wanted to share it to hopefully bring some light to the incredible employees of Inceed. I sit here in our house with my gorgeous wife Leanna, in quarantine, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. This is a single photo from the single greatest day of my life, and it will be with us for the rest of our lives together.

No Prettier Sight
by Lindsey Crouch
The Eiffel Tower in Paris at night… no prettier sight to see. Every hour on the hour the flights flash on the tower and it look like it’s glitter. It was SO beautiful. We were lucky to have seen this because a few months after we were there, they closed down the tower to repaint it. I will always remember this trip!

The Essence of Wilderness
by Nathan Quarles
The mist shrouded coastline. An endless horizon that fades behind thick fog. That mighty, wild, raw, untamed, and free-spirited expanse of Gichigami — The Great Sea — is to me the purest definition of wilderness: seemingly as untouched by man since the dawn of creation.

Horse Drawn Carriage
by Britt Collier
Our second stop on our Spring Break trip was Philadelphia, PA! My mom and I have taken a horse drawn carriage ride before and loved it, but Ayden hadn’t ever been on one. We just HAD to do it in Philadelphia. It was so cool to ride through the old brick streets in such a historic city! We rode past Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were written, the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross’ house, and Benjamin Franklin’s grave and workshop. This trip took place right before the craziness of the Coronavirus began. The end of our trip got quite hectic as we made a last minute decision to drive home instead of fly, but this is the perfect picture to remind me of how much fun we had exploring new cities, learning about the history of our country, and sharing my passion of history with two of my favorite people!

Gettysburg Battlefield
by Britt Collier
I have always been a huge history buff. Every Spring Break since I was a kid, my mom and I have taken a historical trip somewhere in the US. This year, we decided to take Ayden with us to get him started learning about the history of our country. In early March, we went to Gettysburg and Philadelphia, PA. In Gettysburg, we toured the 6,000 acre Gettysburg Battlefield. It was hands down, one of the most moving experiences of my life. It’s such a sacred place where 1,000’s of men lost their lives fighting for what they believed in. It is so crazy to think of how pivotal the outcome of this battle has been in shaping America into the country it is today. This picture was taken at an area of the battlefield call “Little Round Top”, an area that the Union Army occupied during the three day battle that ultimately helped them defeat the Confederate Army. We had to climbed up a narrow and rocky stairwell inside a huge monument to get to this view, but it was SO worth it! It was incredible to share this experience with Ayden and to see how excited he got learning about everything. Definitely a trip I will never forget!

A Place to Call Home
by Christine Basinger
For the past 10 years, I’ve been on the move. I left my parents house in 2009, moved to college only to leave college and move to North Carolina. For the past 8 years, I’ve been moving around the Fayetteville area, then Greenville and now Raleigh. This photo was taken our first weekend living in Raleigh back in May. For me, it’s a very significant thing – this is the first time in a long time, I have a place to call home for the foreseeable future.

A Love for Lincoln
by Christine Basinger
My love for Abraham Lincoln runs deep so it was super cool to visit Ford’s Theatre in DC. Across the road from Ford’s Theatre is the Petersen house which is where Lincoln actually passed away after being shot by John Wilkes Booth. This House was turned into a museum and this winding staircase showcases all the books ever written about him!

A Superior Sunrise
by Nathan Quarles
My wife, Alyssa, and I were camping in northern Minnesota along the shore of Lake Superior. We built a bed platform in our Subaru so that we can camp wherever we park for just these types of excursions. This particular night in the Subaru was spent falling asleep to the gentle sound of waves lapping the rocky coastline. I had been planning to wake up early the following morning and drive to a vantage point down the coast and catch the sunrise. As nice as that sounded, Alyssa did not have in mind to wake up at 3:45am. So the following morning I simply drove the 15mi down HW 61 to Palisade Head with her comfortably sleeping on the bed in the back.
20 minutes down the coastline I parked the car and proceeded to hike to the top of the hill. Perched high on the cliffs, I sat in awestruck wonder as dawn’s arrival greeted the new day. As the fog rolled in across this freshwater sea, the sun cleared the vast horizon and lit the clouds ablaze. The raw, untamed beauty of Lake Superior never fails to amaze me.

Reflections
by Nathan Quarles
The defining turquoise water of the Buffalo River was cold this mid-November evening, and the crisp air was rapidly cooling with the setting sun. The internal debate began but only proved to delay what I already knew was inevitable — I was absolutely going to cross that river. The perfect shot was quickly materializing in my mind: golden rays of the fading light splashing warm beams against the cool limestone cliffs, while blue waters danced over smooth rocks in the gently rolling rapids beneath. Now the mental canvas was dripping with potential, and once that started, there was no way I could let the opportunity slip away.
I rolled up my pants and slung my boots over my shoulder with the camera swung around my back. With the extended tripod acting as support, I took my first steps into the icy water. It was only knee deep but the current was moving fast above the rapids. By the halfway point I had nearly lost all feeling in my feet but adrenaline pushed me onwards.
Upon reaching the far bank, I setup the tripod, adjusted the camera settings, found the frame I liked, and took a deep breath. Then I pulled away from the viewfinder and sat back, reminded of something I’ve often tried to practice: “to never take the shot at the expense of the present moment.” This moment was too sublime, too serene to simply reduce it to an imperfect, poorly represented photograph — it demanded my complete attention.

Walking By Faith
by Lauren Curley
Moving to a new city, changing careers (with the best team) and getting married in a year sounds like a lot to handle, luckily having someone by your side, makes it so much more fun. Walking by faith into a new season of life with someone you love has been the best adventure.

Sunrise in New Mexico Rockies
by Josh Viar
This spontaneous INCEED trip (sponsorship available *wink*) was a last minute adventure with two of my co-workers. It was a physically grueling hike up above 10,000ft+ elevation with an additional several hundred the next morning in the black of the morning to be able to catch a glimpse of the Sun break the horizon. This moment, for me was almost spiritual because of the utter magnificence of what God created for us to enjoy. I had the feeling that no-one had ever sat in this spot and witnessed this view, though I knew that wasn’t the case. Here’s to friends, sunrises and sunsets and new adventures.

Sunset in Seattle
by Josh Viar
This picture was taken as the sun set on the water off of Pier 67 in Seattle. I had just flown in that night from a week of hunting and had taken the opportunity to meet my sister for the very first time. It was like we had known each other forever as we ate fine seafood and watched the sunset with our Dad. Circumstances in life happen but at the beginning of every day the sun comes up and sets in a similar wonderous spectacle, reminding us that same love that created the world reunited two siblings.

A Year of Firsts
by Dakota Bottoms
In September a very new, very exciting chapter of my life started… I became a mom to the sweetest little boy! Overcoming and learning all of the “firsts” we’ve experienced lately has been fun and exhausting… but mostly fun! Did you know they make something called a “pee-pee tee-pee”? Yeah me either, but we are now proud owners of this little invention!

Who Says?
by Blythe Westfall
Who says? Who says you can’t try new things and decide to become great at something completely out of your norm? If I’ve learned anything at Inceed, it’s that growth comes in the hard times. In 4 long years of recruiting, I’ve done so many things out of my comfort zone, pushed myself to a level I didn’t think possible and have become an incredibly focused person with goals to crush and thousands of people to serve. Learning to ‘stick it out’ in the hard, slow and painful seasons of work is where you mature and learn the lifelong lessons of perseverance, endurance and grit. It’s what shapes you. You don’t see it at the time but 4 years out now, I can see it clearly. This same mindset is what got me into cycling. Did I know what I was doing when I borrowed my cousin’s bike and mountain biked Turkey Mountain for the first time 4 years ago? Nope. Did I know what I was doing when I bought a road bike off Craiglist and decided to do a 50-mile-race the following weekend? Nope. Did I learn and try on my own? Sort of. I did a bit of training on my own, watched a bunch of YouTube videos, but mostly – I reached out to people that were a lot better than me and asked them to ride with me, critique me and give me the advice they wish they’d gotten when they started cycling. It’s been a mix of learning on my own through experience and mistakes, plus cycling with groups and people way better than me that have helped me become a more competitive cyclist and accomplish things like a century ride, crit, cyclocross and mountain bike racing… and competing really well at my level! My point? Stick it out in hard times. You will learn things at work that will carry over into your daily life. You become great in the moments of hardship!! Who says you can’t?

Tails, Colorado
by Blythe Westfall
Heads, Oklahoma! Tails, Colorado! Most of my adult life has been a fair balance of adventure and stability – it may seem like a strange mix, but as a Type 7 on the Enneagram, I’m usually either scheming up some adventure or roadtrip super last minute, or deciding to be completely alone and in solitude… like MAJOR introvert time. It’s a weird balance. Countless shenanigans have been a direct result of a metaphorical ‘coin’ toss – I may decide to spontaneously learn a choreographed Justin Bieber dance or buy tickets to a concert in a city 4 hours away the day of, or get in a car and drive 10 hours to ski for 2 days only to be back to work by Monday… or I may decide to stay in town and do absolutely nothing at my house and veg out binge watching New Girl (If you know, you know). If I could have it my way every time, it’d be a ‘tails’ coin toss every weekend – to the Colorado mountains I go!!!

A Big Leap
by Lauren Mandrino
Back in June when I finally took a leap and started a photography business on the side, I couldn’t have imagined it would lead to this. Photography has always been a love of mine but I’d always been too scared to put my work out there for people to judge or reject. Shooting a wedding was something I added to my bucket list this year and lucky me, my first one was one of our very own Inceed friends, Britt!

A “Quick” Weekend Trip
by Tyler Grosinsky
Nathan Quarles, Josh Viar and myself went on a “quick” weekend trip to Jicarita Peak in Northern New Mexico. This picture was a panoramic 180 degree shot of Nathan looking at the peak that we were to climb the next morning. Climbing a few thousand feet, off trail and in the dark so that we could be at the top for sun rise?….let’s do this.

A Sign
by Tyler Grosinsky
This is the same trip that Nathan Quarles, Josh Viar and I went on to New Mexico. On the way there we encountered a pretty nasty storm system with an odd beam of light in the middle. This was clearly a sign… because in the middle of this bright spotlight was a Whataburger! Needless to say we stopped to get some food, and also some Krispy Kreme which was conveniently located right across the street. ?

20 Miles Deep
by Kevin Oliphant
This photo was taken 20 miles deep into the Grand Canyon where there is still a native Indian tribe called the Havasupai Indians that live and function within the canyon by bringing all their supplies in by mules and horseback. They first settled in this location because of the waterfalls that are there and they never left. We hiked the 20 miles into the canyon and lived with them for a week and traveled around to the various waterfalls that are on their reservation. The water is tented blue from the large amounts of calcium in the water and is clear as can be.

Untamed Beauty
by Nathan Quarles
The Coastal Hiking Trail, Ontario, CA
Our journey to Pukaskwa National Park began with a 1,000mi drive. Upon arrival, we hired a local to shuttle us by boat to a point along the rugged coastline of Lake Superior. After two hours among the tossing waves, we approached one of the sheltered coves that would serve as our drop point. As we stood on the beach, we watched the shuttle slowly disappear into the fog, the sound of the engine drowned out by the waves lapping the shore. Suddenly the realization of utter seclusion began to set in. We were alone. The Coastal Hiking Trail is rated 3rd in Canada’s most difficult trails, not because of its length or even terrain, but because of its remoteness. 40 grueling miles lay between us and civilization and hiking was our only way out. There was no option to bail.
“The Boreal Forest of southern Ontario was majestic with vibrant shades of green, a thick canopy, and lush beds of moss layering the forest floor. The pure silence of these deep woods, only occasionally broken by the trickling of a small stream winding its way through the dense maze of trees, reinforced the realization of utter seclusion. Nearly everything around us seemed as untouched by mankind as from the day of its creation.”

A Calling
by Nathan Quarles
Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Northern Minnesota
The sheer vastness of this pristine wilderness evokes a sense of mystery. It’s as if each melodic wave, forested ridge, and lichen laden rock was calling me deeper — deeper into something previously unknown.

The Surprise of My Life

I planned a trip to Banff in June for Jamie and I— it was supposed to be just a quick, fun getaway. He had other plans. This is a picture of us at Moraine Lake after he asked me to marry him! This was the top surprise of my life and one of the easiest questions I have ever answered. And yes, the water really is that blue…

The Church of Lillesand
by Hannah Baylock
This is the church in which my great-great-grandparents got married and that my great-grandfather was baptized located in a small beach town on the southern coast of Norway called Lillesand. I had the opportunity to visit this summer and meet over 30 third cousins while I was there. My grandfather was the adopted son of Norwegian immigrants who left Norway in the early 20th century in search of a better life. Our trip was an amazing opportunity to meet so many family members, that I am related to by adoption, and experience the warmth and hospitality towards my immediate family and me.

Our First Dance

Our first dance was nothing to be aired on “Dancing with the Stars” but this picture is the start of a different life for both of us. After a handful of years dating, challenges, ups and downs, multiple moves across the country, we committed to loving each other forever.

Bay in Ketchikan Alaska
by Josh Viar
May 2019
After a full day of travel I woke up in Ketchikan at the Black Bear Inn. It was pitch black when we arrived so none of us had gotten the chance to realize the natural beauty in which we were immersed. I walked out the back door and was frozen by this scene. The brisk air, colors of water, flowers and even the foreign aroma and sounds of a float plane hit my senses. All of this and yet the moment was still trumped by the reality of being there with my Dad. He isn’t getting any younger and to me, this picture represents memories and time with him that I will never forget. One day, hopefully many years from now, this will be framed sitting on a mantle or shelf… and even in all its beauty I’m sure it’ll remind me of him.

More Than an Adventure
by Rachel West
11/15/19
This photograph was taken near the top of Angel’s Landing, an advanced hiking trail in Zion National Park! This was one of the most challenging hikes I have ever done. Angel’s Landing received its name over a century ago because people believed “it is so high only an angel could reach the top.” The views were remarkable, the scenery was breathtaking… Every direction we turned was a site more beautiful than the last!
However, what made this adventure different than others we have taken was not the grueling quest to reach the peak of Angel’s Landing nor the spectacular scenery. This day was more than an adventure because my partner asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes! This photograph marks not only other page in our travel journal, but the start of an entirely new journey altogether.

My Office Away from the Office
by Kevin Oliphant
One of my soldiers from my platoon captured this photo and it has a bit of a back story.
We had been doing a live fire mortar mission when one of the motor rounds caught the range on fire. Usually when a range catches on fire, we cease fire and the fire department comes out and puts out the fire but since these were live mortar rounds, some could be duds down range and so it was unsafe for the firefighters to come out and clear the range.
The fire became increasingly close and was a football field length away from our firing position so we were instructed to fire all remaining rounds down range instead of packing them back up before doing an emergency exfil from the range. We had 12 mortar tubes firing at once I am the one to the right of the photo and was the tube loader for the remaining rounds for this tube.

Let’s Go Astros

My son, Ayden, is 5 years old and is a DIE HARD Astros fan! His favorite player is Jose Altuve. He watching all of the games with me, knows the players, and seems to know the rules of the game well! He has learned addition by paying attention to how many runners are on base and determining how many runs we’d have if the batter hits a homerun. A math game within his favorite game! GO ASTROS!!

Follow Your Fear
by Andrea Ratzlaff
“Be safe”. It was the one thing everyone said. Friends. Family members. Middle-of-nowhere gas station cashiers. Be safe as I drive 3,786 miles over the course of 30 days. Be safe as I ski and hike and explore alone. Be safe. Because a month is a long time to be away, all by yourself, living in strangers’ homes, in cities you’ve never been.
Be safe. I nodded. Smiled. Assured them that I always was! And they believed me, because I always had been.
And that’s exactly why I had to leave.
Winter Park, CO.
Salt Lake City, Utah.
San Francisco, CA.
Los Angeles, CA.
And 7 days for each.
January 30th, 2018. I bolted shut my apartment and got into a near-empty car. I hadn’t packed much. My clothes and my courage. Everything else was getting left behind. Work. Family. Friends. And that one little word…
It wasn’t safe to drive thousands of miles in a used car purchased only a week prior. It wasn’t safe to go backcountry skiing without a partner (because you might get stuck in the chest-deep snow… which I did). Or drive through a Colorado storm (because you might may lose control…which I also did…). Heck, it wasn’t even safe to set up this picture going 80 on the highway. None of it was safe. But it was fun.
Safe is such a sweet little devil. All promise with nothing to give. I left it behind that January morning in chase of everything I was afraid of.
Turns out following your fear is far more fulfilling.

Attached at the Hip
by Sydney Kippenberger
The guy on the left is my best friend in the whole world! We grew up together in Kingfisher, walked to school together every day, went to high school together, college, etc etc.
We’ve been attached at the hip since we were 4 years old and 80% of my photos on social media include him. (He’s also the one mentioned in my bio about doing wing Thursday at BWW)
This photo of course is him and I and our good friend who now lives in Denver. We all love going anywhere with a beautiful rooftop and view of Oklahoma City’s skyline.
This was taken on top of the Museum of Art right as summer was dwindling down.

Leap of Faith
by Brandon Shaw
This is a photo of my wife and I on our honeymoon in New Zealand. We decided to do this spontaneously because one of our plans for the day was canceled last minute and we needed something to fill the day.
Bungee jumping was something that I have always wanted to do, my wife… not so much. This was something that she was horrified to do, and was something way out of her comfort zone, but after some in depth convincing, she agreed. She trusted me, and took a leap of faith with me, and it also symbolized our relationship. It showed the things we had built in our relationship, the trust, the excitement, the adventures we wanted to experience together, but it also showed where we were at in our life.
During this time we were in the process of deciding our next steps in our lives. Looking to start new jobs, looking to move out of our home state, and looking to explore the world together. I believe this activity really was the start to “the places you’ll go” as it was the start of our lives and adventure together. It was the start of taking the leap of faith and looking toward the future and taking the necessary risks in order to seize all this life has to offer.
Since then we have moved to Denver, started new jobs, and made new friends! Inceed has been a part of that and I am forever thankful.

A Moment Lost to Time
by Nathan Quarles
We were deep in the heart of the New Mexican Sangre De Cristo mountains. It was 4am. Josh Viar, Tyler Grosinsky, and I had our eyes fixed on the silhouette of the mountain ridge cresting 2,000 feet above our campsite. Our goal was a sunrise vantage from the top.
A preliminary scout the day before left us with two options for obtaining the summit: 1) take the trail which wound along the west side of the ridge, potentially obstructing our view of the sunrise; 2) bushwhacking up the 45 degree slope. We chose the latter.
Certainly the more demanding route — our hearts pounding from the exertion required to negotiate the steep face in near pitch darkness, and lungs gasping for oxygen in the thin crisp air at 12,000 ft elevation. But we pushed on, steadfast in our conviction that the reward would be worth it.
Then it happened. Blacks turned to dark blues, bursts of lavender shot across the horizon, and golden beams lit the mountain peaks on fire. The wind was relentless, but suddenly, warmth began to penetrate deep into my core.
Dawn has arrived, and we sat breathless, in silence and awe, taking in the serenity of a moment now lost to time.

The Wind Blows Softly
by Nathan Quarles
Location: Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Norther Minnesota
Date: Thursday 5 September, 2019
The winds blow softly across open expanse,
Bearing with them grey clouds laden with the mists of heaven,
Reminding creation that autumn is near.
In that stillness begins the soft drizzle on glassy waters.
Suddenly, as if cued by the great director to play its part in this tranquil scene of creation,
The loon calls with enchanting vibrato, reverberating across distant waters.
Soft rains begin to light upon needled branches,
As the ancient choir of these north woods echoes through chambers of this sacred cathedral.

My First NYC Trip

I took my first New York City trip this past summer and it will definitely be the first of many! I met up with my friend who coincidentally was taking a NYC trip at the same time I was, and his Airbnb ended up being right next to the Pride Parade. We watched all the excitement from the ninth floor, complete with celebrity sightings and awesome pictures!
